To crush or not to crush ?

11/11/14

You know that feeling, that one you get in the bottom of your stomach that flutters up and makes you feel like you are going pass out. This friends, is a disease that is spreading through the country like wild fire. If you get it, then goodbye friend, you life will be consumed with one thing and one thing only... the crush.
Yes, I know that its not a disease but having a crush can take over your whole life. You skip meals due to the fear of having them see you eat. Learning there daily schedule is a must, because you have to be able to place yourself strategically in their daily life in hopes that they will look at you or
say hello. And lets not forget about the stalking , yes stalking. You know everything about them from who they dated last to what their mother does for a living. Its hard to even be around them with out sweating, it can be 3 degrees out side and you are sweating like a sinner in church.

I want to pose a question to you all. What if you have this crush because there is something missing inside of you?

I had a conversation the other day with my counselor about relationships, love, and crushes. It was eye opening, I never thought that a crush could really be about you. That it could really be something much deeper and more internal. She prompted me to list the thing I liked about the crush. I named off , calming, ambitions, easy to talk to, respects my mind, and that he is like an anchor, grounding me. She proceeded that by saying you cant help the physical attraction, it will just happen. But when you begin to be drawn to someone you have to ask,"do I like them or do I like the way I feel around them?"
Sometimes we are drawn to someone because they fulfill an emotional need. When an area of our lives is lacking, we seek what we think can fill the emotional void. Most of us find Johnny or Sally to give us a temporary fix.
As I began to meditate on these things.  I realized that instead of looking for satisfaction in some
some boy, I should be seeking God to fill that emotional void inside me. For He is the one who can fill the empty unloved feelings that come over us. God makes us strong , strong enough to wait. He has created that perfect mate for each one of us. Running around saying "Is it this one Lord" is not how God intended it. His word says, "Through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.  Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;  perseverance, character; and character, hope." Romans 5:2-4.

Friends there is hope and perseverance through God. He is in control and I pray your Boaz's and Ruth's come swift and in the right season.

Frozen

During this past week, my town was hit by a unforeseen wonderland. I believe it was a gift from God to remember His beauty and creation. Sunday morning, I walked out my dorm into a winter's dream. I knew there was a city behind the fog. I knew there was homework and tasks waiting for me in my room, but on that morning began to roam the field that looked like heaven. The picture above shows what I saw on that morning. I added the poem by Robert Frost. ( I realize that I repeated the poem over again, but I think it adds to it. teehee.)  I believe it helped explain my feeling of being tired of the daily routines or the everlasting "job-stopper". It shows the appreciation of stopping to smell the roses.  So, that morning I stopped to taste the snow.

Stay focused on the important things in life, and take time to enjoy them.

With love,
Jessica

Something that touched me today.

2/4/14

This video was posted on Facebook and it was very moving. So I am linking it below and take a moment and watch.

This campaign has been devised for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by Pro Infirmis, an organization for the disabled. It is entitled "Because who is perfect? Get closer.", this was designed to provoke reflection on the acceptance of people with disabilities. Director Alain Gsponer has captured the campaign as a short film. It is a beautiful representation of how we are all the children of God and that each one of us has flaws. We are to love our neighbors like ourselves. Please take sometime today to reflect on how you view those who have disabilities. Just because they look different doesn't mean they are lesser people.  Genesis 1: 27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." No one is perfect but we are all made in the image of God.

We'll Never Be Royals?

So I am sure you have heard the song "Royals" by Lorde. If not, you have obviously been living under a rock like a deaf snail.  So Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O'Conner has some killer vocal chords, right? But what are we so melodically singing about, and speaking into our lives, that we'll never be "royal"?

Now the song is ultimately singing about the day in and day out of a teenagers life. She relates by singing about her humble beginnings.  But the simple life that she sings of seems empty, and uninspiring.

Now, because she is singing of being the humble underdog in a socialite scene, it feels like she's taking a stand against materialism and snobbery. Its hard to think that anyone can stay humble during their course through fame.
But what I'm trying to say is ... Who tells us we'll never be royals?

  N     O           O    N    E.
In fact,  if Jesus is your Lord and Saviour, You actually are royal! You are a precious child in the Kingdom of God. You are His prince, his princess. You are entitled to authority of your life. Pursue the dreams that the Lord has placed in your heart. Because through Christ anything is possible. Now all you need is vision... because " without vision my people will perish" (Proverbs 29:18) With out vision, you follow anything that crosses your path. Tunnel Vision...  Hey! It's not a bad thing! You find your goals, and you follow them! The journey to your true desires will never be easy. If you're like me, and are still trying to find God's plan for your life, its okay to live day to day.  Live in faith that God will bring you to the right place, right time, and right people. He will guide your steps when you don't know where  to go. ( Proverbs 3: 5-6) Don't lean on your own understanding, but trust with your whole heart that God will direct and make your path straight.

So, go ahead and be royal if you want to... because you already are!  Don't just live a complacent life, going through the motions, wishing for the world to change. Don't just search for your next self-fulfilling buzz. If you want to make something of yourself, if you want to make a difference in this world, if you want to live like royalty in this world, just do it. Do the work it takes to be amazing.

Follow your path
Follow your vision
and
Do it.

If it's supposed to be it will be ....

1/9/13

My first post of 2014 is something near and dear to my heart. I hope your Christmas season was as good and eventful as mine. Some great things transpired and then some not so nice things transpired, nevertheless it was refreshing.

I think everyone has heard the phrase "Well if it's supposed to be it will be".  This statement never makes me feel better about my situations. This phrase can be used for any situation, whether is be a new job , buying a home, naming children, walking your dog...ANYTHING ! But the one application of this phrase that makes me furious is when it is applied to relationships. Yes, I know that there is truth to it, but it doesn't make anyone feel better. It is the "safe" advice to give someone. I would rather you say to me ,"No, he must not like you " or " Yep , your a loser , He will never text you again ", than " Well if it is supposed to be..... " .

*Stepping off Soap Box*

I urge you to think before you give advice. Listen to someone's story before you write them off with a generic response. Sometimes, there are even events that are not meant to happen.  In love, warn your friend if you sense danger in an area of their actions. Encourage the paths that will bring life and peace, not anxiety. God's grace will give you peace when trying to decipher His path for your life.  Help guard one another from pain and confusion.  The words you speak over others can bring life and death (James 3:10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.)
It would mean more to someone if you were to actually give them advice and support, that will up lift them, and give them hope.  Friends think before you speak . Listen to the Holy Spirit, He may give you words of comfort to those who need it . When speaking about relationships, Empathize do not Sympathize. Empathy is a better tool to use. Relate with the person; tell them stories of how your situation " , can be a true statement , just think before you say it and do not let it be the only thing you say to someone.

And Please do not comfort me with this phrase !!!!

This My Brain... This is My Brain During Finals.

Hello! Long time, No see!!!!!

I am pretty sure that's because its coming to the close of our semester here at university....
 That means

1. I'm almost to T H A N K S G I V I N G Break!!!

Doin' the most.

2. After a relaxing break full of thankfulness, food, and Black Friday shopping...
I will wake up the next day and realize....
     F I N A LS

I ONLY HAVE LIKE 2 WEEKS TO GET MY ACT TOGETHER!!

And by act I mean try to get as much Bonus Points to go to my economics class as I can.

                                                     School?

Wait... Wut?

3. So in attempts to make right all my wrong doings.... I shall stay up to the wee hours of the night studying...

And by studying I really mean....

4. And I'd be lying if I said I wasn't getting distracted by all the beautiful things around me...
 Things like this.....

Or
Better
yet...

THIS

Ultimately, I'm not going to stress out that much about the semester coming to a close....
Okay... So maybe I will feel a little like this...
Yah.. I don't understand it either... But..

Don't be surprised if you see me in the same sweatshirt multiple times, running off coffee, and glued to my laptop doing research.. and/ or crying because its not Christmas yet...

BUT
The light at the end of the tunnel is my last point...

 5. WINTER IS COMING
[and by "Winter" I mean the Holidays... (and "Holidays" I mean Christmas)]
May it snow like small angels falling from the sky

May the force be with you during the end of this year....

Godspeed,
Jessica

P.S. If you happen to see me passed out in public.... Leave me... I probably really need the sleep.

Mystic Crystal Revelations

11/11/13

The future ,  its seems just so ....Distant . Sometimes I find myself stuck a rut . This rut can be a black pit of despair with no hope of ever getting out .

As a college student, this dark rut happens to me multiple times during the year . It starts with just a small feeling , that "why am I?" thought, then it grows into a festering sore of self doubt and pity. Ultimately, this  over-stimulation of feeling will stress you out and can cause you to be reluctant to better yourself.

BUT WAIT !!!!!!! THERE IS HOPE , YOU CAN GET THROUGH THIS ! You feeling like this is okay, because there is something you can do about it. Trust me, I have been in this place of insanity and this is how I keep from losing my mind .

Here's something to try , instead of wallowing in self pity-doubt , place your self in a situation where you can show off what your good at .

For example , I am a singer and I am studying classical voice. However, my heart belongs to Musical Theatre ! I love musicals and I have a vast knowledge of them. Being in shows and singing the songs from musicals truly makes me happy . I never realized that it was okay to pursue something that made me that happy , until this weekend . I got the chance to take a 2 hour Broadway belt lesson and well ..... not to brag ... I killed it !

And in that teacher was impressed ! He loved my voice and gave me tricks to be better . That moment I crawled out of the not good enough pit and began to believe that maybe I could do it . If I work hard and practice that I could make it in something I love with all my heart .

Friends , you have to learn how to believe in yourselves . In believing that you are good at something , that thing becomes an anchor you can hold on to . It will keep you sane and keep out of that dark place . So go find something that lights a fire under you butt and find that Purpose ! I believe in you, and remember to believe in yourself !
Who knows you may be a star , or just a really good math teacher :)

XOXO , Chloe

I Don't Care

HOW I FEEL RIGHT NOW

Please enjoy this song that explains my feelings right now.

I keep loosing my phone... Great. I think I'm getting sick???
I could care less if I don't do my hair...The fire alarm went off
this morning, and I totally slept
through it....

 I could have died....? Nah...

There's a book report due soon? Oh well.. there's the
weekend for that.. I've ripped my 2nd pair of pants in the
same week???? Hah!

I obviously have been going insane with the amount
of work I've been doing.... So insane I can't focus...
 That's why I'm blogging.

    And thats A-okay with me.

Rose Colored Glasses

Ignorance was bliss
-Chuck Palahniuk,
It's time to be honest with ourselves. How many times have we thought of an idea and just let it run away with us?  Sometimes we lie to ourselves that we actually do know what the future holds.  Ultimately, we don't.  We don't know the thoughts of the person next to us. We don't know how things would have ended if we had chosen differently. We just don't know what the future holds. That's why we need something constant.

We hold dear the consistency of  B L I S S.  Its a beautiful word. Rhymes with kiss. It assures us that we don't have a care in the world. Although when we live in bliss, we only see what we wish to see in life.. Is it really okay to envision a naive purity? We turn blind eyes to the bones in the closet. We open the door, grab our jacket, and shut the closet door once again.  We live in monotony.  When we look through rose colored glasses, we only see life in one color and only one perspective.  When we take time to take off our shades, we will see the depth and fullness that life has to offer. We will see the color and vibrancy of our environment, but also we will see the truth and pain that our world is in.  As Christians we need to stop living in a world that we think is perfect. We can't always keep turning the other cheek.
The world in rose colored glasses
I believe that if we realize the beguilement that is being presented to us, we won't be seeing the same rose complected attitude we did before. We need to learn to stand up for our beliefs. Let's not settle for what we see in the world. I am tired of people complaining that the world is so horrible, and yet they don't take the time to make a difference. Next time you pass by a person, think deeper than the out layer. Think deeper than the roses covering their eyes. Take off your glasses and look into their life. Pray that the Lord humbles you to see deeper than their superficial shell. Look past the beautiful and lavish materials, and ask them what their soul needs. Not every one is as perfect as you might think. We need to change the Constant in our lives from ignorance to into living our life for the Lord intentionally. Yes, we don't know what the future holds, but if we are led daily by the will of God, we can capture the vision and heart that God has for His people. So take off those rose colored glasses, and find something to live for.
